New Waves 2018: Blushes

Show­ing that gui­tar bands are far from dead is Blush­es: a four-piece from Ayles­bury, Buck­ing­hamshire, serv­ing up charis­mat­ic indie rock akin to Foals, Vam­pire Week­end and The Mac­cabees. The band’s debut EP, Pri­vate View­ing, brought them to our atten­tion, and has since been picked up by oth­er media and radio. The dance­able ‘Hyp­no­tise’ and ‘To the Bone’ are on track to become ear­ly favourites among crit­ics and fans.

“We all have the same unre­al­is­tic, child­ish dream of becom­ing a big name in music and hav­ing the pow­er to influ­ence many oth­ers with it. 2017 made us realise that dream could be real with enough work. 2018 is now the year where we know it hap­pens or it doesn’t,” Blushes’s drum­mer Jacob Price tells Fringe Fre­quen­cy.

Blush­es play their first head­line Lon­don show at The Wait­ing Room on Feb­ru­ary 21. They are already gear­ing up for fes­ti­val sea­son with new sin­gles on the way, includ­ing the soon-to-be-released ‘Hon­ey’.
