New Waves 2018: Jay Alexzander
The music of Jay Alexzander is ready and willing to take you – and your date – from the dance floor to beyond your bedroom door. He brings us lively R&B (‘Hello’) and dangerous baby-making, slow jams that fans of Usher and Miguel will root for.
So far, Alexzander has released two mixtapes and an EP (The Prologue), toured as a backing vocalist for Josh Barry and Ady Suleiman, and has twice been a finalist in the MOBO UnSung competition. Last October, we watched the London vocalist perform a confident set in Hackney. Previously, he’s opened shows for YolanDa Brown and Snarky Puppy. The steamy ‘FWU (feat. LK)’ is Alexzander’s latest single. A video is on the way soon.
“In 2018, I plan to be much more active that I have been previously. I plan to have my name and face everywhere,” Alexzander tells Fringe Frequency. “Personally, I feel like the music I will be releasing will be my best to date, and the quality of everything I release, including visuals, will follow that. The songs will hopefully be refreshing to the ears and hopefully will excite everyone as much as they excite me.”
