New Waves 2018: Nova Twins

From their aesthetic to their sound, everything about Nova Twins screams: attitude. Amy Love and Georgia South embody the DIY spirit that started punk rock and hip hop with their custom-made, thrift shop clothes and their aggressive wall of noise.

On record, these “Queens of the Damned” lay down smatterings of punchy rock and rap that gets pulses racing. Think: Deap Vally meets Savages meets Rage Against the Machine.

The London duo have two EPs out – Nova Twins and the recently released Mood Swings – and songs ‘Bassline Bitch’ and ‘Thelma and Louise’ are rising favourites. They’ve put on dynamite performances at Afropunk festivals (seriously, they had us in shock), have begun to perform headline shows, and now they’re really starting to take off. No word yet on what’s planned for 2018, but we’re confident these girls are about to go supernova.
