Tiece shares first track from her upcoming debut album

British singer and producer Tiece has shared a confessional single to kick off the campaign for her first full-length album.

The song, called ‘Intro’, is made up of layered chants and melodic singing. A short, but promising tease of what’s to come.

“For me, ‘Intro’ is a confession,” Tiece told Fringe Frequency. “A letter to myself, or rather a letter to my music… or a letter to love? It’s about honesty, fear, sacrifice, hope and love. It’s about the journey we go on in order to better understand each other and ourselves.”

‘Intro’ is the first new music from the singer since her salient 2019 EP, WMN. Smoky, chilled and tinged with rye maturity, Tiece’s EP has plenty that fans of early Massive Attack and their contemporaries will enjoy. And her upcoming album, titled Nowhere, Now Here, looks set to continue her experiments with polyphonic sounds and vocals.

Tiece was originally born in Manchester. She spent part of her childhood in Kenya, before returning to the UK, where she is currently based.

She is one half of Girlhood, a duo who’ve been making exciting electro-soul. She has also worked with Rhymeskeemz, Rodney P and The Herbaliser.

Tiece plans to release more singles in the run up to her album. Follow her on Instagram for more a glimpse into her world, and the occasional live performance during lockdown.

‘Intro’ is available to stream and download now on all platforms, and Tiece’s Bandcamp page.
