From the Archive: The Skints performing at the Brixton Academy, London, in October 2016.
The Skints, the British ska-punk band from east London, have always been fiercely independent. And in 2016, this independent spirit, combined with a new set of killer songs and a huge North American and European tour, helped them reach a whole new level.

When they performed at the O2 Academy Brixton, there was a sensation of homecoming for the east London band, who were in their element as they played tracks from their 2015 album, FM. A circus of different sounds and boisterous energy followed, topped off by ‘This Town’, the group’s triumphant ode to their home city.

The Skints are: vocalist and guitarist Joshua Waters Rudge, bass guitarist Jonathan Doyle, drummer and vocalist Jamie Kyriakides, and vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Marcia Richards.

Since this show, the band released their fourth album, Swimming Pools, in 2019. They have also returned to Brixton a number of times, which has included recording their first ever live album at Electric Brixton (released in July 2020).

At the time of publishing, The Skints are getting ready to return to touring in autumn 2021 – provided Covid restrictions remain lifted. You can find out all of their upcoming tour dates on their official website.
